Unconditional Therapeutic Foster Care with Wrap-Around Family-Centered Services

Seraaj Family Homes, Inc. specializes in providing Therapeutic Foster Care with Wrap-around Services which are designed to meet the specific individualized needs of clients and families.  The agency provides these support services in order to provide intensive treatment to children in need of care.  The agency designs individualized, needs-driven and family-focused treatment plans for foster children and their families while developing and facilitating a permanency plan for each child. The agency makes reasonable efforts to keep children safe at home whenever possible using the support of communities and families.  The agency also specializes in creating a continuum of care which includes traditional/regular foster care, specialized/therapeutic foster care, intensive rehabilitation foster care and adoption.  Components of the agency's Therapeutic Foster Care and Wrap-around Services' approach to treatments are numerous.

Specialized/Therapeutic Foster Care is designed to place children within the mainstream of community life.  Services are based on the Teaching Family model. This means the treatment focus is to serve emotionally challenged children in a family-style setting.  Seraaj Family Homes' therapeutic  foster care involves the following features:

  • Placement of a child with Family Teachers/Foster Parents who have been recruited specifically to work with emotionally complex children.

  • Specialized pre-service and on-going in-service training for Family Teachers/Foster Parents to assist them in working with emotionally complex children.

  • Client-to-staff ratios are in accordance with State Minimum Standards requirements.

  • A strong support system among the Family Teachers/Foster Parents.

  • Payment of a special stipend to Family Teachers/Foster Parents for working with emotionally complex children and for participating in trainings.

Wrap-Around Services are designed to ensure that an adequate, individualized, needs-driven and family-focused treatment plan is developed and implemented and that the client/family progress is reviewed.  Wrap-around services involve assertive reunification efforts of the agency to reunify children with their biological families.  Listed below are other features of wrap-around services:

  • On-call service 24 hours and 7 days a week through which Family Teachers/Foster Parents can reach professional staff members within minutes.

  • Crisis Intervention teams that can respond with expertise in suicide intervention, physical restraints, defusing conflict and substance-abuse counseling.

  • Alternative placement options for each child.  An event may occur that requires removing a child from his/her foster home, but with Seraaj Family Homes' unconditional care policy, an alternative home will be provided.
